A Sunday Afternoon Walk
Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 by Janna
What to do on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? My friend Amanda and I decided to forgo the canoeing venture some of our siblings were organizing in favor of a walk in the woods. We grabbed our cameras, in hopes of happening upon some photo-worthy Nature along the way. As usual, Creation didn’t disappoint. The delicate wildflowers which dotted our path were relatively easy to photograph, but I had to do a little chasing and sneaking to snap a few shots of the monarch butterfly (below); and as for the two deer which dashed across the path just behind us–I didn’t even try!

Watching our shadows glide along before us gave me the idea to try a “Shadow Portrait”. In this shot, we’re attempting to capture the essence of the horrors of Mosquito Warfare (every one of us a battle-hardened veteran).

Amanda B. obligingly blows the fluff off one more dandelion, providing her dear older sister with subject matter for the above photo.
Our walk was such fun, Amanda was inspired to begin a blog devoted to the wildflowers in our home state, Minnesota. Most of the wildflower names are stolen from her site. I don’t know how she remembers them all!…

Hi Janna!
I really like your shadow picture…I may try that with my girls and see how it looks! How fun!
I enjoy looking at your pictures!
