Camping at Gulch Lake

Spring is such a wonderful time for a camping trip! Nearly everything you see is a novelty, from the tiny May-flowers, to the sunlight filtering through the new green leaves and giving the world a warm glow.

Dad took this early-morning shot of Gulch Lake. I just noticed the beaver lodge on the right!

On Saturday, we decided we’d like to take a walk and have a closer look at the beautiful, blossoming Crab Apple trees we’d noticed on our way to the campground. Our road crossed a little creek, which was just begging to be explored.

A clump of Marsh Marigolds (caltha palustris) growing near the creek bank.

On the road again–and judging by the scenery, I think we’re getting close to our destination!

An old house surrounded by Crab Apple trees. I wonder who took the time to plant them, as well as the dozens of trees lining the gravel road!

Ahh! After approximately two miles of walking (not steadily, but still…), we finally reached our destination: a beautiful, pink-blossomed tree, perfect for taking photos! Here’s me, complete with shamelessly-manufactured-look-of-innocent-glee!

My sister Audra is going for the dreamy look–forgivable in a bride-to-be, eh, Justin?

O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
