2007 Lake Itasca Family Music Festival
Sunday, Aug 12th, 2007 by Janna
Last weekend, we headed south for the second annual Lake Itasca Family Music Festival, hosted by The Berge Family (Relatives of mine! *Proud Grin*). We had such a wonderful time visiting with friends, helping out in the Snack Shack, and, of course, listening to music! Bands came from all across the United States–The Watkins Family from Georgia, the Alzen Family from Wisconsin, the Wissmann Family from Nebraska… and many more!
My four sisters and I worked up the courage to sign up for a fifteen-minute slot on the Showcase Stage (a secondary stage for “Emerging Artists” not yet ready for the Main Stage :D). We sang four gospel songs, a cappella-style (”a cappella”, according to Merriam-Webster Online, means, “without instrumental accompaniment”). It went off tolerably well, though the Amen for Be Thou My Vision needed a little work… ![]()
We didn’t bring the camera (*tsk, tsk*), but you can view photos (and read more about the festival) on Mindy’s Blog (http://mindycaron.blogspot.com/2007/08/2007-festival-pics.html) and the Wissman Family’s Journal (http://wissmanns.blogspot.com/2007/08/family-bluegrass.html).
Hope to meet you at the Festival next year! The first weekend in August… Don’t forget!
