Favorite Books
Wednesday, Aug 1st, 2007 by Janna

In looking through my many journals and spiral-bound notebooks, I find, here and there, scattered amidst the sporadic story ideas and sketches of “pretty girls”, a list of my “Favorite Books”. Why I wrote these lists, I don’t know. Nobody but I ever read them. But I just like making lists! And from what I’ve seen on other blogs out there, I’m not alone. Hmm… I could attempt to analyze this peculiar human tendency. Or I could just make another list.
“Make another list” wins. ![]()

Sherlock Holmes mysteries ARE good… I haven’t read any for quite a while! Uh-oh. Must–resist–temptation to stop reading one book in favor of another! I’m trying to finish Oliver Twist.
Lol. I usually have about 5 different books going at the same time.
The Black Arrow is my favorite RLS book. And my dearest Janna, I am shocked that you have not included P.G. Wodehouse or A.A. Milne! No list is complete without a little Wodehouse or Milne style humor.
I forgot about P.G. Wodehouse and A.A. Milne! My list is by no means exhaustive, I guess.
Every one I make is different, including all the “books of the hour” and neglecting past favorites. When coming up with my “favorites”, I tend to concentrate mostly on the deep, epic, emotional books, forgetting how much enjoyment I get out of humorous writing. It’s been so long since I’ve read anything by Wodehouse, I’m not sure what stories were my favorites… I know “A Damsel in Distress” was hilarious, as well as the Jeeves and Wooster stories. And “Winnie the Pooh” and “The House at Pooh Corner” are wonderful! Eeyore is my favorite character. When I do a “Favorite Quotes” post (someday), I’ll have to include some of his!
P.s. Amanda: To prove how forgetful I am–Can you believe I left out “Enemy Brothers”, and had to edit my post after I saw it sitting there on my bookself?
