Happy (Belated) Thanksgiving!
Friday, Nov 23rd, 2007 by Janna

The photo above documents the sumptuous spread Mom prepared for our family yesterday. Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing/dressing, sweet potatoes, whole wheat crescent rolls, corn, cranberry sauce, pickled peppers and olives. We’d made three pies for dessert, but decided they’d better wait a bit.
In the meantime, we dug out our ice skates and drove over to Midge Lake. A thin layer of smooth ice, barely thick enough to hold us, had formed during the last few days’ cold snap. I struggled into my skates, blaming the difficulty on my affliction with T.B. — “Turkey Belly”. We skated along the very edge of the lake, so that, if indeed the ice did break, we’d find ourselves standing in merely ankle-deep water. But no accidents occurred, and we skated on until the sun began sinking below the trees, giving the opposing Eastern sky a warm, pink glow. It brought back memories of last year, when we stayed out skating long enough to watch the sun sink entirely, and returned home in the winter semi-darkness of early evening.
Well, with pies and Pride and Prejudice awaiting us at home (and my skates were rubbing, too), it was no trial to pack ‘er up and get back in the light. We spent a very enjoyable, relaxing evening together. Justin and Audra joined us just in time for pie, completing our family circle. I’m very thankful we’re all so close (geographically and otherwise), and can be together often. Family is wonderful, and I’m glad I’m right here in the thick of it.
It’s a bit too late for wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving Day… But the festivities continue right on through Sunday, don’t they? “Happy Thanksgiving Week-End!”
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Happy Thanksgiving!
You sound like you had a really lovely day!
Thanks Janna! I enjoyed reading about your day. We are all down here at Sam and Missy’s and are considering a treck out to the pond tomorrow as well. I am sure we will be hugging the shore as well though…or at least those of us with a brain will!
Hello Janna!

Sounds so picturesque. Lol…thankfully we didn’t have to worry about ice for thanksgiving.
Dear Janna,
Bye!
Hi! I’ve just stumbled across this site, and I’m SO glad I did! I’ve been longing to find a blog of a conservative, feminine, Christian girl - just to help me feel like I’m not alone. I guess I just get to feeling lonesome sometimes.
Now that I’ve found your blog, I have a dozen questions about you. Where do you live? How old are you? I’ve been praying to meet a girl close to my age who has the same values as me. What is your family like? …I hope I’m not being nosy, but I’m sure every girl who is “different” from the world knows what I mean when I say I am thrilled to find someone would could possibly be like me! Would you be willing to email me and introduce yourself a little?
…..Sorry to rush off, but I want to explore your blog a little more.
