I moseyed around the yard after breakfast this morning and snapped a few photos of Mom’s beautiful flowers…

On Sunday afternoon, we took the pontoon out on Cass Lake and spent an afternoon relaxing in the sand, sun and water. Dad tied the water tube onto the back our great vessel (Erica wants her christened the Indefatigable) and gave us rides around the lake. I’d never had such a nice, calm tubing experience [...]

I don’t know about tomorrow;
I just live from day to day.
I don’t borrow from its sunshine,
For its skies may turn to grey.
I don’t worry o’er the future,
For I know what Jesus said,
And today I’ll walk beside Him,

Yes, her birthday was two months ago, but as I was browsing through the photo archives the cake looked so yummy I had to share it with you.
It’s Boston Cream Pie, with johnny-jump-ups on top. And let me tell you, that chocolate frosting is the best ever!

The reunion is held every two years, and is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with extended family members you haven’t met since — well, two years ago! Lucky for our [...]

Wanted: hearts like Thine, Lord, holy,
Hearts that in Thine image shine;
Hearts that turn from sin and folly,
Hearts to know no way but Thine;
Hearts that unto Thee are given,
Hearts possessed with dying love;
Hearts on earth but filled with Heaven,
Hearts inspired from above.
– From the hymn, Wanted Hearts

Look what we had for supper yesterday evening! Amanda made a double-batch of shortcakes to go with our freshly-picked strawberries, while Erica made a bowl of cream cheese whipped cream to glop on top. To complete the red-white-and-blue triumvirate we added some store-bought blueberries. Don’t all the ingredients look delicious, layered together to create [...]

Our strawberry plants are producing juicy sweet fruits by the bucketful! Just yesterday, we picked somewhere around six gallons. Washed, hulled, and frozen, they’ll sure come in handy this winter when we get a craving for a strawberry-banana smoothie or buttered toast with strawberry jam. For now, we’re relishing the luxury of fresh strawberries on [...]
