An Autumn Week in Feminine Dress: Sunday
Monday, Oct 27th, 2008 by Janna

We woke up Sunday morning to a little hint of what’s to come. Puffy, wet flakes of snow were tumbling down, melting into little wet puddles almost as soon as they hit the ground. On the way to church, we had to run the defroster in the van; and, I found that my black wool jacket wasn’t thick enough to keep me warm. It must be time to bring up the winter coats from the basement.

Autumn, thy doom is near.

A note on my outfit: I made the dress, using the “1912 Shawl Collar Dress” pattern my good friend Amanda Kastner designed and published herself. Such a fun gown to wear–and surprisingly easy to sew! Heh; if I can do it, you can, too.

Oh, you look lovely!
My fingers have been itching to make up a new dress for myself…:)
Thanks so much for sharing! As always, your photos are beautiful.

I love that dress. So feminine!
Thank you for posting pictures of snow! Those are beautiful pictures!

Janna, I have enjoyed all your posts this week with all your lovely
outfits. Saturday’s skirt and sweater are beautiful and much too pretty
for spreading hay. Sunday’s dress is quite beautiful and especially since
you made it yourself. The shawl collar is lovely. All around you seem to
have a grasp of life that is very genuine and your thoughts always seem to be in the right place and an inspiration to all, young and old who read
them. I especially appreciated your response to the person who asked
about “God” last week. It proves that our lives are always a witness even
when we are not aware of it. Oh yes!!! I love the snow pictures, especially the one with the red berries. I don’t think we have that tree
in the Deep South.
Thanks for sharing.

What a lovely dress, Janna! And I’m so jealous of your snow
But even down in Florida, my fingers are numb as I type — of course, we’re not even running our heat yet…
Thank you for sharing pictures!
Yours in Christ,

Your snow photos are breathtaking — I could look at your pictures all day long. More please!
When I looked at your blog on Sunday, I could not believe that you are already getting snow, until we looked at our forecast and they said that we were going to get 1-2 inches ourselves. My family didn’t actually get any snow, but the higher elevations got about 6 inches!
Tis’ the season now I guess!
You take such nice photos! My camera is old though. We’ve been getting a bit of snow the last few days.
By the way, I made your bread pudding recipe on Monday, and my siblings loved it!

Thank you, everyone, for your comments! Very kind of you.
The snow came and was gone again the same day. Today is beautiful; bright sunshine, a tiny breeze, and crackling leaves underfoot. We woke up to a skim of ice on the pond this morning, and, even by ten-thirty AM, the frost was still lingering in the shadows. Some morning, when I’m feeling brave, I’ll have to run outside to get a few frost photos to share.
What a charming dress, I love the shawl neckline
